DeHavilland Apartments Event

Wesbeam and Bluerock Projects hosted an exclusive industry event at the first four-storey mixed-use timber development in Perth. Attendees experienced the unique use, design benefits and possibilities of engineered wood products in a mid-rise development.

On Thursday 22nd August 2019, Wesbeam and Bluerock Projects hosted an exclusive industry event at the DeHavilland Apartments construction site in Midland, Western Australia.

Over 60 Architects, Developers, Engineers and Certifiers inspected the first four-storey mixed-use timber development in Perth, prior to cladding being installed. The attendees also experienced the unique use, design benefits and possibilities of engineered wood products in a mid-rise development.

DeHavilland Apartments is a prime example of how timber structures are being built cost-effectively, fast, sustainably, of high quality and with less resources. It is a project that you would expect to see in Europe, right here on your doorstep in Australia.

Stuart Hawley from Bluerock Projects said “The project has endorsement from Planet Ark, the global environmental brand who are very enthusiastic about seeing these types of buildings being constructed.”

Stuart also went on to discuss his partnership with Wesbeam and his appreciation for the amount of support and help that was provided from very early stages and ongoing.

Denis Cullity of Wesbeam said “Buildings like this are perfectly suited for multi-residential, both higher end and affordable living, student accommodation and aged care.”
