Welcome Mat is an initiative run by the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation (ARLF) and funded by Australian Forest Products Association (AFPA), an outcome from the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation.

Two Wesbeam representatives, Zarko Jovanovic and Zarko Kojic attended the leadership program, alongside 12 other emerging industry leaders and played a vital role in the creation of Welcome Mat. Welcome Mat is a cross-industry tool that provides an introductory walkthrough to those new to the industry as well as outsiders.

The project aims to raise awareness of the depth and diversity of the WA Timber Industry by forging links and building a better understanding of who we are and what we do. Welcome Mat provides people working in the industry with a greater appreciation of the forestry industry and the value it holds. FIFWA assisted in creating and are hosting the website.

Daniel Cook, a Dryer Operator from Wesbeam was featured in an Industry Spotlight in the project. This was a vital contribution to understanding wood processing and gave a behind the scenes look into the Wesbeam factory. Read more about Daniel here.

Zarko Jovanovic attended the Welcome Mat launch event on January 31st hosted by Wespine and was pleased with the turnout and how well Welcome Mat has been received. A special thank you goes to Federal assistant minister for regional development and territories Nola Marino for her attendance and praise.
