Mechanical Fitter

We are seeking a qualified Mechanical Fitter to join our Operations team on a day shift basis.

We are seeking a qualified Mechanical Fitter to join our Operations team on a day shift (Monday to Friday) basis. Someone who learns quickly, who understands operating with a sense of urgency and has an innovative approach to diagnosing problems.

Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years prior experience as a Mechanical Fitter, preferably in a manufacturing environment, hold a Mechanical Fitter trade qualification (or equivalent), be adaptable, self-motivated, have a desire to reach their goals, and can work safely and effectively with others to achieve great results.

Your principal duties will include: 

  • Regularly maintaining plant and equipment. 
  • Rectifying breakdowns within a timely manner. 
  • Diagnosing issues using critical and logical thinking. 
  • Equipment installation and fabrication. 
  • Using SAP computer systems where necessary. 
  • Flexibility to be available for on-call work when required.

Selection criteria / qualifications needed:  

  • Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitter (or equivalent). 
  • Minimum of 2 years fixed plant manufacturing experience. 
  • Proven exceptional knowledge of conveyor systems. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to safe operation and a duty of care towards their team. 
  • Ability to work in a high-risk and challenging environment prone to distraction.  

Desired selection criteria: 

  • Knowledge of hydraulic & pneumatic systems. 
  • EWP licence. 
  • Working at heights confirmation of competency. 
  • Confined space confirmation of competency. 
  • A commitment to ongoing learning and training development. 

Essential requirements:  

  • Proof of right to work in Australia. 
  • A current high-risk forklift licence. 
  • Current national police clearance or willing to obtain at own cost (essential). 
  • Driver’s licence. 
  • Ability to complete a comprehensive pre-employment medical, including a drug and alcohol screening with the company’s provider.
