Laminated veneer lumber - LVL - is an engineered wood product that’s increasingly popular with the construction industry as it discovers LVL’s many advantages over traditional timber.
Wesbeam’s LVL is a lightweight, high-strength building product engineered from wood sourced from renewable, sustainable resources. Our range of LVL products is designed to span further, carry greater loads and withstand the tough Australian climate.
Wesbeam’s Design Centre provides high-level engineering and design advice in the use of Wesbeam’s products in free-standing residential, multi-residential and commercial structures in both LWF and mass timber.
Over 85% of fully and semi-detached homes built in Australia are constructed using lightweight timber framing. Lightweight timber framing is now also increasingly used in the construction of prefabricated multi-storey apartments.
With 15 years’ experience in the Australian LVL industry, our Tall Timber Building Systems division offers a range of high-performing structural LVL solutions for multi-residential and commercial mass timber applications specifically designed for Australian conditions.
Strong, sustainable timber. Readily available and lightweight for its strength, timber has been a trusted building material for centuries.
Wesbeam is Australia’s only LVL manufacturer and distributor - with a world class factory in Perth and next day delivery from Wesbeam distribution centres.
Wesbeam’s Design Centre offers a free service for engineers, builders and timber merchants.
Using Wesbeam’s unique, e-house [whole of house] software, the Design Centre creates accurate, detailed and cost-effective plans for building second storey floors with e-beam and e-beam+ LVL and e-joist for Wesbeam registered customers.
Once the whole-of-house details have been entered, the software cleverly calculates loads from roof through wall to floor to foundations; and checks support at every point. Its ‘What-if… ?’ feature trials various configurations to work out the most cost-effective solution.
This intelligent load calculation produces a final design which fully optimises the use of materials without compromising build quality. Within 5 days of receiving plans, a customised floor frame layout and quote is sent to Wesbeam’s Frame & Truss or Timber Merchant registered customer detailing the most economical way to build the floor to the specification provided.
Exact sizes of materials and quantities are delivered on site along with all the necessary fixings and detailed plans, guaranteeing no shortages, oversupply or wastage. Everything needed for the job is in one, fully-comprehensive, flat-packed delivery.
Builders and designers are encouraged to engage the Wesbeam team at the early stages of design to run ‘what-if’s’ on the various design and load transfer options. By conducting this analysis at the outset, builders optimise the cost of construction and minimise unexpected outcomes on site.
