HomeZone Building is currently constructing a residence demonstrating Wesbeam LVL's ability to connect to a range of different products.

Martyn Goddard and his team at HomeZone Building developed a system that uses the great characteristics of Wesbeam’s e-beam product (strong, straight and consistent) to enable a prospective home owner to enjoy a concrete deck in a two-storey design.

Martyn said that “Composite concrete slabs are nothing new in Western Australia, but tend to involve another contractor. By using the Wesbeam LVL rather than a propriety type system it gives us greater flexibility in the office,on site as well as allows us to use our regular trades.”

The Wesbeam Design Centre were involved in the early concepts in collaboration with locally based engineers, estimators, and timber merchants.

The design consists of Wesbeam's e-beam and an 80mm concrete topping on permanent formwork. The benefit - you can pour concrete the next day after installing the joists which reduces curing times as well as the flexibility to install services after the slab is poured.

Wesbeam are excited to partner with HomeZone Building on projects like this which continues to set the standards for composite floors and in turn grow in WA.
