MiTek® is the largest Australian supplier of connector brackets to frame and truss fabricators and provider of the world leading timber framing software - SAPPHIRE™. The last two years has seen Wesbeam and MiTek's partnership grow in strength to bring expertise in I-joist floor system design to SAPPHIRE™.

SAPPHIRE™ is a fully integrated family of timber framing design, manufacture, and management platforms. SAPPHIRE™ calculates the dynamic and static load requirements for a floor system and selects from the family of Wesbeam e-joist sizes and performance characteristics to specify the optimised solution.

“I am delighted that our Wesbeam floor frame systems integrate with MiTek’s advanced SAPPHIRE™ software. This collaboration allows our customers to experience accurate, detailed, and cost-effective plans for building second storey floors with e-joist and e-beam LVL. It’s a great honour to have the support of our long-time partner MiTek to help us provide our customers with the designs that allows builders to best optimise the cost of construction and minimise unexpected outcomes on site.” Says James Malone, CEO Wesbeam.

The Wesbeam, MiTek collaboration enables builders and their engineers to work seamlessly with frame and truss fabricators, timber merchants and Wesbeam’s engineering team. The way in which SAPPHIRE™ enables time and cost saving teamwork is ground-breaking. Builders, engineers, material suppliers and Wesbeam can collaborate at the earliest design stage to review ‘what ifs’ and identify the most highly optimised solution using Wesbeam's LVL and I-joists.

MiTek SAPPHIRE™ anticipates the needs of MEP trades and designs for electrical, plumbing, and air-conditioning penetrations to eliminate onsite surprises. All elements of the floor system design are clearly labelled and cross-referenced against the bill of materials with the use of colour and precision labelling to remove guess work for carpenters and MEP trades.

Floor system designs are being exchanged between MiTek frame and truss customers and the Wesbeam Design Centre. Rapid assessment of design options and detailed SAPPHIRE™ documentation of design solutions are being used by leading builders, their engineers, and trades.

Wesbeam and MiTek are jointly committed to continue innovation, quality assurance and customer service, in support of residential builders using I-joist floor systems to provide greater value to homeowners.
