In an exciting recognition of Wesbeam’s commitment to excellence, two employees were presented with awards at the annual Wanneroo Business annual award night. Celebrated for their achievements and dedication, Steve Greenwood took home the title of Business Leader of the Year, while Robbie KauKau received the Trainee/Apprentice of the Year award.
Business Leader of the Year
As the Team Leader of B crew at Wesbeam, Steve continually has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills that have significantly contributes to the success of Wesbeam’s operations. Leading a team of approximately 26 employees in a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week operation, Steve ensures that production runs smoothly across all shifts.
He is deeply committed to empowering the members of his crew, giving them the confidence and autonomy to make decisions that contribute to the overall success of Wesbeam.
Steve’s leadership has had a profound impact on both his team and Wesbeam as a whole. Through his people management skills, focus on team empowerment, and commitment to fostering cross-crew collaboration, Steve has significantly improved the working environment and productivity of the factory. His dedication to his own growth and leadership development ensures that he continues to evolve as a leader, driving success not just for his team, but for the entire company, and why Wesbeam were proud to nominate Steve for this fanastic award.

Trainee/Apprentice of the Year
Since commencing his role as a Trainee Plant Operator on February 28, 2024, Robbie has always demonstrated excellent commitment, enthusiasm, and skills that made him a standout candidate for the Trainee/Apprentice of the Year award. Robbie shows incredible work ethic, a passion for learning, and a dedication to the success of the business. His contribution has been invaluable to Wesbeam.
Beginning his journey at Wesbeam in the wrap and strap area, a key part of the plant's operational process to deliver product that is distributed across Australia, it was clear quickly that he was a a fast learner and takes initiative in understanding the full process needed. This quick learning laid the foundation for his rapid advancement through other machine centres.
His strong desire to learn allowed him to quickly move beyond the strapper operation, and within six months, he had successfully mastered three of the business's machine centres.
Robbie is the ultimate Trainee Plant Operator who has made a significant impact on Wesbeam in a short period. His commitment to learning, strong work ethic, teamwork, and leadership qualities make him a deserving winner for the Trainee/Apprentice of the Year award.

Wesbeam is a major supplier of laminated veneer lumber (LVL) to the Australian housing and construction industry, with a national distribution network and sales centres located in each mainland capital city.
For over 20 years, Wesbeam has been a proud member of the City of Wanneroo community with our Neerabup facility operating 24/7, 50 weeks per year.
The company commends the City of Wanneroo and the Wanneroo Business Association for their efforts to support and recognise innovation, creativity, and capabilities within the city’s business community.
