Laminated veneer lumber - LVL - is an engineered wood product that’s increasingly popular with the construction industry as it discovers LVL’s many advantages over traditional timber.
Wesbeam’s LVL is a lightweight, high-strength building product engineered from wood sourced from renewable, sustainable resources. Our range of LVL products is designed to span further, carry greater loads and withstand the tough Australian climate.
Wesbeam’s Design Centre provides high-level engineering and design advice in the use of Wesbeam’s products in free-standing residential, multi-residential and commercial structures in both LWF and mass timber.
Over 85% of fully and semi-detached homes built in Australia are constructed using lightweight timber framing. Lightweight timber framing is now also increasingly used in the construction of prefabricated multi-storey apartments.
With 15 years’ experience in the Australian LVL industry, our Tall Timber Building Systems division offers a range of high-performing structural LVL solutions for multi-residential and commercial mass timber applications specifically designed for Australian conditions.
Strong, sustainable timber. Readily available and lightweight for its strength, timber has been a trusted building material for centuries.
Wesbeam is an Australian-owned, unlisted public company operating from an $115 million purpose-built manufacturing plant north of Perth.
Our $115 million laminated veneer lumber manufacturing plant represents the biggest single investment in forest products in the state.
Take a virtual tour of the Wesbeam factory and see how we use $115 million of the latest technology to create an engineered wood product which combines the load-bearing properties of steel with the cost-effectiveness and ease of use of timber.
Wesbeam products are manufactured at the Neerabup plant using state-of-the-art equipment imported from New Zealand, Japan, Finland and Germany. The 25,000 sq.m. plant located on 10 ha operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week and produces in excess of 80,000 cubic metres of LVL products every year.
The tour also provides an insight into the level of research and laboratory testing which is an integral part of our LVL manufacturing program.
